Matt McGinnis is a Philadelphia-based artist, director, dog lover, game show host, producer, puppeteer, writer, zine maker, and phantasm.

Beginning in 2013, I’ve had the good fortune of working with Joel Hodgson, creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000, on a variety of projects related to the MST3K brand.

I got my start writing and puppeteering Tom Servo (silently) in the 2013 MST3K Turkey Day Marathon on YouTube. Since then I’ve worked on a number of other Turkey Day Marathons, from writing, to producing, to directing, and even performing on camera.

In 2016, I was hired by Joel’s company, Alternaversal, to be a writer and producer on the revival of MST3K. We released two seasons on Netflix (2016’s “The Return,” and 2018’s “The Gauntlet,” respectively), and in 2021, we released our third and fully independent season on our custom streaming site, the Gizmoplex. It’s in this season that I had the honor of directing the holiday-themed season finale, “The Christmas Dragon.”

Along with the TV series, I also co-wrote and co-produced all of the nation-wide MST3K LIVE tours. I also contributed a fair amount of writing to the six-issue Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Comic,” published by Dark Horse Comics.

Aside from MST3K, I performed the character Jasper in the wacked-out punk rock fever dream Wacky Live.

I’m also the host, creator, and producer of the new live comedy game show, Movie Riffing Melee.

Every summer, I can be seen performing the mad scientist character, Dr. Son of Dr. Frank N. Stone, at the Colonial Theatre’s Blobfest in Phoenixville, PA.

When I’m not doing all of this stuff, I’m probably drawing monsters.
